The Sanskrit term paramita is synonymous with perfection. It indicates the virtues that we must cultivate to achieve enlightenment. The Paramitas are often associated with a rowing boat, symbolizing our journey from the shore of sorrow to that of spiritual elevation.
The design of the Paramita incense holder recalls such a rowing boat, acting as a warning about the path ahead. Its cubic appearance allows Japanese incense to be burned in both a vertical and horizontal position. If positioned horizontally, you will be able to calibrate how long each stick burns, as it will stop burning as soon as it reaches the metal section.
