Blue sage is a close relative of the well-known white sage. This plant is distinguished by its delicate bluish-colored leaves and its indigo-tinted flowers, from which it gets its name. It can be found mainly in the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It spreads a herbaceous and floral aroma, reminiscent of lavender, being much lighter than white sage.

The use of blue sage can vary: from preparing an environment for a meditation session, to using it simply to relax and enjoy its fragrance. It can also be burned during purification and protection rituals. Blue sage is believed to promote abundance and prosperity, as well as enhance inner strength and spiritual development.

Agricultural information

The plants we handle come from both wild harvests and cultivation. Whether taken from private or public lands, the individuals harvesting them possess legal permits to do so. The process is simple: branches are removed while the roots of the plants are left in the ground to ensure future harvesting. Shipments are monitored by the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture), which ensures compliance with all legal and environmental requirements. White sage is a hardy perennial plant. Its growth is influenced by the climate and annual rainfall. This explains why the size of the bundles can vary from year to year, in response to seasonal conditions and harvest changes. During periods of drought, the concentration of essential oils in the leaves increases.

Instructions for use

Smudging is a ritual used throughout the world. It is believed to increase mental clarity, joy, and serenity.

  1. Use a heat-resistant container, such as an abalone shell. Place it on a suitable base or stand and have a feather or fan ready.
  2. Light the sage bundle, preferably with a match. Allow the leaves to burn for a few moments, then blow out the flame. Be careful, as the leaves could easily be blown away.
  3. Move through each room and direct the aromatic smoke with the feather or fan toward the area you intend to purify.
  4. Wait for the sage bundle to burn out completely. According to native beliefs, the sage will continue to burn until the purification is complete. Remember, smudging is a ritual based on intention. With a sincere heart and a noble desire, you will enhance its effectiveness.

After use, ventilate the room. Avoid direct inhalation of the smoke.
