To choose a home fragrance, it is best to separate three decisions: which olfactory character you like, where you want to smell it, and which method you prefer for diffusing it. Olfactory families help with the first; habits and format complete the choice.
A map, to be used with freedom
Millefiori distinguishes six families: floral, sweet, powdery, fruity, fresh citrus, and woody spicy. A family indicates a direction for the composition, without describing every nuance. A perfume with a floral note may belong to a different family.
- Floral: start with Fiori Chiari, or with the contrast between rose and an amber base in Ambra & Rosa.
- Fruity: Fresia e Pera pairs pear, apple, and peach with a heart of flowers.
- Fresh citrus: Riviera combines lemon, green notes, and aromatic elements.
- Sweet: compare Vaniglia Bianca with Honey & Sea Salt, where honey and a marine accord create a different contrast.
- Woody spicy: Petali di Tabacco brings tobacco, spices, and woody notes.
- Powdery: this is a register that recalls the sensation of powder and soft fabrics; check the references in the catalog before choosing.
The room does not dictate the fragrance
The same composition might be pleasant in the hallway but feel too overwhelming near the dining table. Consider how you use the space, how much time you spend there, and the preferences of the people you share it with. Pairings by room are suggestions, not rules.
Choosing the method
The reed diffuser accompanies the space continuously. The spray allows you to decide when to vaporize. The water-soluble fragrance requires a suitable device and should be dosed according to its instructions. To start, choose just one method and see how you like it.
Two useful questions
Does the pyramid indicate how long it will last? No: it describes the notes, while consumption and perception also depend on usage conditions. Is a larger size always preferable? It should be chosen in relation to the space and the manufacturer's recommendations, not just the quantity.
