Copal - Resin
In the pre-colonial Spanish era, the white smoke rising from burning copal was used to purify individuals and spaces. The ancient Maya and Aztec civilizations revered it as a divine entity, whose mystical and sacred powers elevated it to the status of a guardian.
Here is how to use it:
Light a charcoal disc and place it in a heat-resistant incense burner filled with ash or sand. Sprinkle small amounts of resin onto the charcoal. You can use either pure resins or a combination of resins, herbs, and oils. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Use with caution. Ventilate the room after use. Avoid inhaling the smoke directly.
Remember, smudging is a ritual based on intent. With a sincere heart and a noble desire, you will intensify its effect.
