Myrrh - Resin
Resin extracted from a tree that thrives in southern Arabia and East Africa, it has been used to purify and scent the air. Both Jewish and Egyptian priests burned it as a natural remedy and as an offering to God. It was also used for recreational purposes and as a symbol of abundance: "I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes and cinnamon. Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning." Proverbs 7:17
Here is how to use it:
Light a charcoal disk and place it in a heat-resistant incense burner filled with ash or sand. Distribute small amounts of resin onto the charcoal. You can use pure resins or a combination of resins, herbs, and oils. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Use with caution. Ventilate the room after use. Avoid inhaling the smoke directly.
Remember, smudging is a ritual based on intent. With a sincere heart and a noble desire, you will intensify its effect.
